Friends of the Jemez Springs Library raffles Cow Elk tag to hunt on the Vermejo Park Ranch
The Friends of the Jemez Springs Public Library is selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a cow elk hunt on Ted Turner’s famous Vermejo Park Ranch. Through the generosity of the Vermejo Ranch and Turner Ranch Outfitters a cow elk tag authorization was donated to the Friends to raise funds to support the Library. Vermejo Park is a 590,823 acre ranch in Northeastern New Mexico and Southern Colorado and is, without question, one of the most famous ranches in the American West. Vermejo Park ranch stretches from the Great Plains to the summits of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains with elevations from 5,850 to 12,931 feet and is home to one of the largest elk herds in N. New Mexico.
Raffle tickets are $5 each and the drawing will be held over the Labor Day Weekend. Ticket sales are limited to 500 and you do not have to be present at the drawing to win. Buy as many tickets as you want to increase your chance of winning. The hunt will take place between December 1, 2018 and January 15, 2019. The specific 3 days of the hunt will be determined by the Vermejo Park Ranch Hunt Coordinator.
The raffle winner will receive a hunt code authorization to purchase a cow elk license from New Mexico Dept. of Game and Fish and access to the Vermejo Park Ranch for the hunt period. Importantly, the winner of the raffle can allow a family member or friend to use the authorization to purchase an elk license should they desire. Details will be coordinated with the winner after the drawing over the Labor Day Weekend. The raffle is open to both residents and non-residents and applicable fees for both hunts apply. The winner must purchase either a resident or non-resident hunting license and all requisite permits. If interested, the winner can hire a ranch guide for an additional $300 fee by working directly with the Vermejo Park Hunt coordinator. The success rate on guided hunts has been about 95%!!!!
